Last Saturday we volunteered some time for Whizz-Kidz, a childrens disability charity. For their Blue Peter campaign, they have asked children all over the UK to make Christmas cards to be sold in Tesco. This will help raise funds to put up more centres helping children get the wheelchairs they need and lead happier and more independent lives.
The PG (Philippine Generations) volunteers arrived at the venue geared up to start packing the Christmas cards, the morning started with an induction about the cards and health & safety instructions. The girls sat down at their designated table, they packed about 400 cards between them. Not bad for a mornings work! The girls giggled, chatted, tweeted and took lots of photos. It turned out to be a great morning for the girls.
The deadline for the cards is 20 october, so the cards are pouring in. Whizz-Kidz needs our help to pack and sort the cards. If anyone has any time they can spare, please contact us and we’ll arrange for this. The fulfillment centre is in One warwick row, victoria. They are open from 9-6pm 7 days a week, but on special days, they are open til 9pm. This evening shift will work best for people who work. Timings are:
Tuesday 26th Oct 6-9pm
Wednesday 27th Oct 6-9pm
Thursday 28th Oct 6-9pm
Monday 1st Nov 6-9pm
Tuesday 2nd Nov 6-9pm
Wednesday 3rd Nov 6-9pm
Philippine Generations is helping Whizz-kidz encourage more people to buy their christmas cards. It's for a very good cause and all proceeds come to Whizz-Kidz to fund Wheelchair Assessment Clinics around the UK where disabled children can get fitted for new wheelchairs. OurRead more
