This course is aimed at learners who have finished beginners 1 or those who have had some exposure to Filipino and want to hone their skills. Similarly, this semi-intensive course would be ideal for those who plan to travel to the Philippines for business or leisure.

With focus on how to ‘get by’ for travel purposes whilst generally adapting a more communicative approach to language learning – common dialogues and expressions in practical everyday contexts will form part of each lesson with the right balance in speaking, listening, reading and writing – the four core communication skills.

Saturday sessions will focus on revision of beginners 1 course contents with the incremental introduction of more complex Filipino grammatical structures, syntax and concepts such as the Pseudo verbs (dapat, gusto, maaari, kailangan, etc) and making comparisons which will be tackled through to the Sunday session. Vocabulary building in order to express time, expressions involving numbers and emotions will also be introduced.

Sunday sessions will also focus on using the language in  everyday contexts where the learner could find themselves in. This practical approach would prove useful for travel plans to the archipelago. Vocabulary and cultural contexts will also be tackled, whilst pronunciation, linguistic nuances and stresses shall be practiced in ever session.

There will be a final written and verbal exam at the end of the course to assess language learning at beginners 2 level.
