We love visiting different schools in London, teaching their pupils about Philippines, it’s heritage and culture. Particularly for secondary schools during their PSHE day learning a new culture. We can visit primary schools too and activities are tailored for each key stages. Philippine Generations collaborates with other groups and organisations to deliver some of the subjects.
Here are our main subjects:
‘Parol’ Lantern Making
Learn how to make a traditional Filipino lantern using bamboo sticks and decorate with with coloured tissue paper.
Eskrima
Learn the Filipino martial art, how to defend yourselves and basic techniques using 2 sticks and knives.
Filipino Folk Dances
Learn to dance the Filipino way! Previously, the pupils learned how to dance the ‘Tininkling’ it’s a dance using 2 bamboos and the dancers steps in and out of the bamboo without being caught by it. Which is both exciting and thrilling!
Cooking
Learn and make simple Filipino food that can be easily replicated at home.
