PAROL workshop: traditional Philippine Christmas lantern

Join us in making traditional Christmas lanterns! This year will be our second year running and is proudly funded by Westminster Small Grants. In the Filipino language, a Christmas lantern is a ‘parol’. There is no greater symbol of the Filipino Christmas spirit than the parol, it is our Christmas tree. Throughout the Christmas season, star-shaped lanterns can be found hanging outside homes and along the streets of cities and small provincial towns, farms and fishing villages. For Filipinos, making a parol, decorating one and lighting a parol is an expression of shared faith and hope. We would like to share this beautiful art with everyone this Christmas.
