Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda

Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda

The images and stories that we’ve all seen and heard on the news and the internet have been truly heart-breaking to see. Whilst not all of us at Philippine Generations have been directly affected, others have been and we all know people who have family and friends in the areas hit by the typhoon. On this day of Remembrance in the UK, we at Philippine Generations offer our condolences and best wishes to everyone affected – know that you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers.
Like other Filipino community organisations and the Philippine Embassy, all of whose efforts to fundraise and coordinate relief we fully support and are helping out with, Philippine Generations will be doing its part to help our kababayans through this difficult time.
All of the proceeds from our Parol Workshop and its raffle on Saturday 7th December will be donated to a community relief organisation in the Philippines of our choice – though we have limited resources, we want to ensure that what we give has the greatest impact and so are in contact with many organisations who will make sure that the money goes to those who directly need it.
If you wish to help out with the Parol Workshop and/or support our fundraising efforts by taking part, please do let us know. Additionally, do come along to the PG Social at Samuel Papys Pub at 7pm on Friday 22nd November, where we want to talk about other fundraising initiatives that we hope can help with the longer-term relief efforts.

Watch this space and Maraming salamat po,

The Philippine Generations team
