Keeping hope afloat in Dulag

Last month, Philippine Generations were very fortunate to work with some great people – the folks behind Hope’s Afloat – in putting on a charity film screening of ‘Metro Manila’.

We’ve been keeping in touch with them since to see how things are progressing; we are therefore very happy to relay the message of Stefan Liljeberg below.

“On the 10th May 2014 we hosted a charity film screening of ‘Metro Manila’ at the Prince Charles Cinema in the heart of London’s West End. We had an incredible turnout and raised just short of £600, enough to build one bangka for the people of Dulag. This is part of a larger bangka building project taking place in Dulag, where all bangkas were lost or destroyed in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. This project has already delivered 18 bangkas, 15 of which were christened and launched in early May.

We are hoping to raise a bit more money so we can build two bangkas – making our goal to raise £1000 total. There is still time to donate – and we would be so grateful for any bit of help.
Please visit our page http://gogetfunding.com/project/hope-s-afloat before the end of June to contribute. A big thank you to all those who attended the screening and who have already given online, together we are helping rebuild livelihoods and keeping hope afloat in Dulag.”

We hope that you continue to give to such a good cause – our kababayans back in the Philippines certainly need your help!
